<strong>Edgewood High School – Synthetic Field</strong><br />
Synthetic field construction is complete. Use will be restricted until new school construction is complete and opened in the fall of 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Edgewood Recreation Park – New Athletic Field and Parking</strong><br />
The construction work has been awarded to Comer Construction with a bid price of $625,213.  The project has been placed on winter shutdown and construction is expected to begin in early March.</p>
<p><strong>Willoughby Beach Launching Facility </strong><br />
Contractor has completed the improvements to this facility.</p>
<p><strong>Nuttal Avenue Park </strong><br />
Harford County has received a $200,000 grant from the DNR Community Parks and Playground Program for the initial phase of design and site improvements at Nuttal Avenue in Edgewood.  An engineering firm has been engaged to identify existing infrastructure and needed clean up efforts as well as appropriate locations for community amenities.   Concepts have been reviewed and a Community Input Meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Discussions are held with the Department of Public Works regarding the closure of one or more of the public roads.  Community Legacy Grant funds will be sought for FY2011 by the Department of Community Services.</p>

<p><strong><em>Independence Day Parade</em></strong>:</p>
<p>The 2nd Annual Edgewood &amp; Joppa-Joppatowne Independence Day parade will be held on July 5th, 2009 starting at 6:00 pm in Edgewood.  The starting location will be at the <a href="http://www.bgcharfordco.org/edgewood-club" target="_blank">Boys and Girls Club</a> on Cedar Drive and the parade route will be along Hanson Rd./Rt. 755 toward Edgewood High School.  IT&#8217;S NOT TOO LATE to register as a participant!!! <span id="more-336"></span>New application deadline is June 15, 2009 and July 5th is fast approaching!!!   If you are going to participate in the parade; please fill out an application form available at ejj4julyparade@yahoo.com or you may contact Marlon E. Gittens @ 443-653-2091.  It is necessary that everyone participating in the parade apply/register.   In our hopes to make this a memorable parade for Edgewood, we expect it to be done with decorum, unity and order so as to run smoothly.  Also, your applications will be categorized because there will be awards!</p>
<p>When registering, some of the information needed is as follows:</p>
<p>About Your Unit: Select the category in which you will be placed.  This is critically important for judging:</p>
<p>Band, Drum &amp; Bugle Corps, Majorette Corps<br />
Color Guard<br />
Beauty Queen or Honored Individual<br />
Musical Marching Unit<br />
Non-Musical Marching or Wheeling Unit<br />
Comic or Novelty Act<br />
Float (see the rules for definition of what is a float)<br />
Mobile Unit(s)<br />
Antique Vehicle (car, truck, fire engine, military vehicles)<br />
Equestrian Unit(s)<br />
Fire Company<br />
Elected Public Official</p>
<p>Number of vehicles your unit will have IN the parade  (e.g., following behind a marching unit) and the number of vehicles your group will use to DROP OFF people in the staging area.  A description of your unit is also required as this information will be broadcast from the Reviewing Stand and will help placing you most advantageously in the parade.</p>
<p>The yearly celebration’s parade route alternates between Joppatowne and Edgewood locations as this is a collaborative endeavor between our communities. PLEASE come out and join the parade and celebration of our freedoms either as a parade participant or street-side observer!  For more  information on this community event please email:<br />
